Waukesha “knocks it out of the park” for Ember Resources
Background
Ember Resources, the largest coalbed methane producer in Alberta, Canada, wanted to expand its scope of operations in the Horse Shoe Canyon region. But it also wanted to be good neighbor to the communities nearby. This meant minimizing any negative impact on the environment while extracting nearly 180 million cubic feet of CBM. The project design had to take into account emissions reduction, noise attenuation, high air quality and stringent safety recommendations.
Product Spotlight
With the clock ticking for project approval and government funding, Ember and Waukesha teamed up to upgrade a mix of ten VHP L7042GL and GSI engines to Series Four and Five specifications. The Waukesha team of experts provided engineering/technical support, oversaw equipment retrofit processes and helped lay out technical details required throughout the government program application.
REsults
Per Jay Befus, Ember Resources Emissions Compliance specialist, the Waukesha performance was nothing less than exceptional. The assistance they gave to the project was a challenge that the Waukesha team “knocked out of the park” according to Ember.
10m tonnes
ACO2e emissions reduction
20–25%
service interval extensions and reduced fuel and oil consumption
To be able to lower emissions and have the Waukesha team’s guidance to navigate Alberta’s programs was top-notch support. The operational benefits make the upgrades an all-around win.
